Blog #18 Chips Vs Salad

You know your soul is saying salad, but something else is saying no, no, no, order the chips!!!!
I had dinner with a friend, and we could order grilled Salmon with salad, or Salmon with chips, or half chips half salad. As you can gather this was no classy restaurant, but the food was good.
My friend, God bless her soul, ordered the half and half, as did I. We wanted to be healthy, but also wanted to live on the wild side, just a tad. Well when we finished our meal, I had eaten all my salad and ¼ of the chips. My beautiful friend had eaten all her chips and hardly touched her salad. We laughed about this, but it got me thinking…
We often know what the right thing is to do, but we sometimes still want the not so optimum alternative. Now the thing is, people call on their willpower to do what they know is right, but they are often fighting an urge to do the opposite.
This made me think of the priesthood and the challenges the church has had with priests getting in trouble with taking advantage of young children. Now I understand fully why the Church requires their priests to be celibate. This can raise them to a much higher frequency and closeness to God, taking them away from the physical distractions and human desires. When you attain a higher level of frequency, you tend to naturally not resonate on the level of the physical body and as such, you are not really interested in this activity.
But you know the deal, when you go on a diet and say no to cream cakes and really resist them, you turn around and eat three or more of them. When you say you cannot have something, the opposite tends to swing into play with gusto.
These poor priests are agreeing to something that they are not ready to do, and we are seeing the results of this. I have seen many things that religious organisations ask of their parishioners, which often if followed, would lift them to greater heights, but if they are not ready it’s not usually a great outcome.
It’s about creating external conditions to hopefully lift them to a higher consciousness/frequency which then naturally draws you to choices that are more constructive. Where sometime this does work, e.g. cleaning your home and putting it in great order, every time you look at it, it lifts your spirits.
So, there is a case for lifting the frequency of your surrounding which then lifts you. But trying to make your self be something that you are not ready to be is kind of denying you, you. I suppose the answer is maintain discipline to live a constructive life while working on raising your frequency, then you just naturally want salad, you do not even have an urge for chips.
Don’t worry about the outside world, other than what its stirring up in you to heal. All your happiness and success depend on you focusing on you being the best you can be and observe the outside world change to match the newer version of you.
